Events
During my internship at Tesserent Cyber Solution for Thales, I have attended several key industry events that have provided me with invaluable insights into cybersecurity, networking opportunities, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies. These experiences have not only enhanced my knowledge but also expanded my professional network. Below are some of the key events I participated in:

TECHX Event 2024
Key Learnings and Networking Experience (Brisbane, Australia)

I had the opportunity to attend the TECHX Event 2024 in Brisbane, Australia. This event brought together leading cybersecurity professionals, vendors, and industry experts to discuss the latest trends and developments in the field. It was a highly interactive event where I not only expanded my industry knowledge but also networked with professionals and vendors.

During the event, I attended presentations focused on cybersecurity funding, key investment trends, and the most significant funding rounds in 2024. I actively engaged with vendors and professionals, discussing their products, services, and how they address the growing cybersecurity challenges. One of my goals was to learn more about the latest technologies and strategies that businesses prioritize in cybersecurity decisions. I made sure to network with professionals from different sectors to understand how they apply cybersecurity solutions in real-world contexts. I also explored broader technology trends such as the growth in the smartphone and PC markets.

From my participation, I gained valuable insights into the return to growth in cybersecurity funding, with investments reaching US$6.72 billion by the second quarter of 2024. I learned about top funding rounds, such as Wiz securing US$1 billion for cloud infrastructure security and T-Racing raising US$737 million. I also discovered that many Australian businesses now prioritize tailored solutions and proactive threat detection when choosing cybersecurity partners. This helped me better understand current business needs and innovation directions in the cybersecurity field.

The TECHX event significantly expanded my understanding of both the financial landscape of cybersecurity and the technology trends driving industry growth. I learned that staying updated on funding trends and business priorities is essential for identifying where innovation is most needed. Additionally, I developed networking skills by actively engaging with industry professionals, which reinforced the importance of communication and partnerships in cybersecurity. Moving forward, I will focus on aligning my skill set with the evolving needs of businesses, particularly in areas like cloud security and proactive threat detection.
Splunk Event 2024
Key Learnings and Networking Experience
I had the privilege of attending the Splunk Event 2024 in Brisbane, Australia, where I explored the latest developments in security operations and observability tools. The event was an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of Splunk’s platform, which is driving the future of Security Operations Centers (SOC). Additionally, I had the chance to network with industry professionals, vendors, and experts, discussing product offerings and market trends in cybersecurity.

During the event, I attended presentations and demos showcasing Splunk's Enterprise Security 8.0, Full-Stack Observability, and other emerging features. I actively engaged with vendors to learn about their products, exploring how they integrate with Splunk's tools to improve SOC operations. I networked with professionals, asking questions about their experiences with Splunk’s Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response (TDIR) solution and how it shapes security teams’ ability to tackle modern cyber threats. I also participated in discussions about AI-driven automation and the role of adaptive thresholds in reducing false positives in threat detection.

I walked away with a deeper understanding of how Splunk’s SOC vision and its AI-powered solutions streamline incident detection and response. I learned about Splunk SOAR’s ability to automate workflows and how the Full-Stack Observability feature provides comprehensive monitoring of an organization's infrastructure. I also saw firsthand how Adaptive Thresholds leverage machine learning to improve threat detection accuracy. These insights significantly enriched my understanding of modern SOC tools and their role in enhancing security operations.

Attending this event allowed me to gain critical insights into Splunk’s SOC platform and the future of security operations. I now understand how important automation and AI integration are in improving response times and operational efficiency. Additionally, I recognized the importance of networking in the cybersecurity industry, as I expanded my professional connections and gained valuable advice from industry experts. Moving forward, I aim to apply these learnings by pursuing certifications in Splunk and enhancing my understanding of AI-driven security solutions
